While looking through the same Bryant family mentioned below I came across a Denis Michael Bryant who was serving aboard the HMS Hood as a midshipman. Denis was the first cousin of Vice-Admiral Denis Bryan Harvey Wildish mentioned below. Denis Bryant passed away when the HMS Hood was sunk by the Bismark.
In the same battle was the HMS Prince of Wales which inflicted some damage to the Bismark but survived the battle. It must have been hard for Denis Wildish knowing his first cousin Denis Bryant was aboard the HMS Hood.
I was looking through some records for the Field side of the family, specifically the Bryant woman of Kent when I came across a marriage for Elfreda Bryant to a Henry William Wildish. A quick google for Henry William Wildish revealed that Henry was Engr Rear-Admiral Sir Henry William Wildish K.B.E., C.B.
Lady Elfreda Phyllis Bryant and Rear-Admiral Sir Henry William Wildish had a son, Vice-Admiral Denis Bryan Harvey Wildish C.B., Deputy Second Sea Lord. Denis Wildish served on the HMS Prince of Wales during the battle with the Bismark and was wounded in action when she was sunk. Lady Elfreda Bryant was my 3rd cousin twice removed and Vice-Admiral Denis Wildish is my 4th cousin once removed.
